Welcome to my webpage. I hope you have an enjoyable and informative visit, whatever your reasons may be for coming here.
This web page serves three primary purposes: First, there is a communication area where you can interact with me through various online channels, second is a brief autobiographical section to describe to the curious who I am and the things that I do, finally, the last section is there to waste your time...
Here you can find out about my whereabouts or send me messages.
Now you can track my current probable location. Simply click on the Earth at right, and then you will be asked two questions to ensure that you are worthy of this information. If successful in your answers, you will then be brought to my locator page. The first question shall be Username; the answer to this question is the name of my cat (all lowercase). The second question will be Password; if you know the cat, then you are worthy and I will just give you the Password: catnip.
I cheerfully accept text messages on my phone. You can send me one over the web via this link. However, you will need to know my mobile phone # and enter it in the appropriate field.

This is my email address, The graphic form is necessary to keep out the evil spam robots. I can receive e-mail on my phone, so this is almost as good as a txt message.
I like to explore non-built environments. I enjoy hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, urban biking, snowshoeing, skiing, and especially backcountry scrambling. Scrambling is basically a cross between climbing and hiking, except that neither trails nor climbing gear are used; it is a real test of mountaineering technique, navigation skills, and physical endurance. The Alpine Lakes Wilderness, situated in the north-central Cascade Mountains, is a special favorite stomping ground of mine. I usually take a lot of pictures on my travels, and you can view these all here.
Sometimes, I post trip reports to my blog. You can jump to posts that I have categorized into the following:

The career path I have chosen is in the field of Transportation Engineering. Transportation systems have fascinated me since childhood, and they continue to do so. I obtained a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Washington, and then earned a M.S.C.E. Degree in Transportation Engineering in March 2004. I am a certified Professional Engineer in the State of Washington and I also have Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification. I currently work for King County Metro Transit in Seattle, WA, where I work on projects to improve the speed and reliability of buses. My specialty is in traffic analysis and traffic modeling, although the direction that I want to take my work is towards the enabling of sustainable modes of transportation and reducing automobile dependence in our society. My blog occasionally contains some musings about my perspectives and personal views of transportation and land use issues.

For personal transportation, my primary vehicle is a bicycle. I have two bikes: One is a beefy touring bike equipped with heavy-duty cargo racks and a hitch upon which I can attach a Bob Yak trailer. The other bike is an old mountain bike converted to a fixed gear that I use for roving around town. I use one of these bikes to ride to and from work almost every day, to the grocery store and most other day-to-day errands, and sometimes just for fun. I live in a fairly dense mixed-use neighborhood, so almost everything that I need is just a quick bike ride away. If I do need to venture out into the suburbs, I find an express bus and use the bike rack to shuttle myself to someplace within the general vicinity (and preferably uphill of) of my final destination. With this method, I can get to almost any location in the greater Puget Sound Region almost as quickly as driving a car.

I like sounds and many forms of music. Electronic music is a special fascination of mine because it has a wide spectrum of styles and sub-genres; the diversity that can be found within electronic music can appeal to a variety of minds and mindsets. Goa Trance, Downtempo and Ambient are my favorite kinds of electronic music. But I also enjoy World Music, Balkan Brass Music, Polka, Shortwave Radio, sounds of nature, trains, dot matrix printers, and so on...pretty much anything that sounds new and interesting and generally lies outside the realm of mainstream music. I have no TV because sounds and other related distractions keep me quite entertained. From time to time, I play DJ sets at parties, coffee shops, and the like. I usually play ambient and downtempo music, and I have been known to incorporate devices such as police scanners and shortwave radio into a set. I have participated in a collective known as Molecular, creating doofs, festivals, and gatherings high in the mountains, deep within the earth, and in the heart of the Emerald City.
I also play the tuba and sousaphone. I currently play in a band called Titanium Sporkestra. I have formerly played sousaphone in the Infernal Noise Brigade and before that, the Husky Marching Band.
